Those asking govt to put KK’s portrait on new Kwacha are hypocrites-Chikwanda

FINANCE minister Alexander Chikwanda has said that government is not planning to place the portrait of former president Kenneth Kaunda on the new Kwacha notes, according to Independent Post.net

Chikwanda said those calling for the placing of the former president’s portrait on the new currency were the same people who condoned Kaunda when he put his portrait on the Kwacha in the first republic. He charged that those calling for this move were hypocrites.

He added that even Kaunda himself wouldn’t want to have his portrait put on the new Kwacha.
