Three Zambian nationals were arrested for transporting drugs worth R34m into South Africa on Saturday.
Gauteng (Johannesburg area) police spokesperson Capt Pinky Tsinyane yesterday said the suspects were arrested by the hawks after a tip-off.
“The truck was from Tanzania, it came through the Botswana border to deliver in South Africa,” she said.
Tsinyane said the area, where the delivery was to be made remained a subject of the investigations. “We will also be able to determine who is the owner of the truck and drugs is.
“We will also check if there are more people involved in the same operation,” said Tsinyane.
The suspects aged between 32 and 40 will appear in the Randfontein Magistrate’s Court soon to face a charge of drug trafficking.
