Transparency International Zambia (TIZ) has cautioned Government to maintain fiscal discipline and not misuse public funds as it campaigns ahead of this year’s general elections.
Speaking to 5fm, TIZ President Rueben Lifuka said President Rupiah Banda should dissolve parliament early so that Members of Parliament can campaign using their own resources as opposed to the use of tax payers money.
Lifuka charged that some ministers are rarely in the office doing their national duties but are busy going to canvass for votes and attending party events using public funds.
He urged Government officials not use incumbency as a way to siphon resources, but work for the good of the Zambian people.
