TIZ cautions politicians against bribing citizens

Transparency International Zambia (TIZ) President Rueben Lifuka has cautioned politicians against vote buying as it is against the tenets of democracy.

In an interview with 5fm, Lifuka said political players should not bribe voters as such does not help the aspirants at all, adding that enticing citizens can cause unnecessary tension in the nation.

He urged individuals in the race to plot one to allow the electorate to exercise their democratic right and choose their preferred candidates so that democracy can grow and prevail.

Lifuka further said there is need for Zambians to uphold for peace and unity in the country ahead of polls as violence is detrimental and has the potential to derail the nation.
