To escape corruption charges, PF government scheming to change the ACC Act

ACC logoThe PF government has began making some amendments to the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) Act so as to leave out corrupt ministers and permanent secretaries, because they fear that after change of government next year many will be arrested.

In the scheme, the definition will exclude the ministers, deputy ministers and Permanent Secretaries from being charged under this Act. Late President Sata had earlier directed ACC to contact him before investigating any officer appointed by him but this was found to be lacking legal backing hence the need to change the Act now.

“The President is scared that many people who he is using to perpetuate corruption risk being arrested when government changes so that is how they have come up with this scheme,” said a State house source.
