To gain political mileage, Esther Lungu pushes for urgent burial of accident victims

  • President Edgar Lungu’s wife Esther has pushed for an urgent burial for the Saturday accident victims so that she graces the occasion today in Kabwe.

According to government sources the burial was supposed to take place Thursday or Friday but because the globe trotting Mrs. Lungu will be in Kabwe today to visit the Seventh Day Adventist Dorcas mothers camp meeting, she directed that the burial coincides with her trip.

“Actually she is not coming for the funeral as it is being portrayed but coming for the SDA function because Mr. Hichilema had donated beef and mealie meal she wants to come and try to dilute that. So that’s how this urgent burial has come about,” said a source close to burial arrangements.

UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema who is an elder in the SDA church made some donation to the week long gathering being held in Kabwe and is said to be attending the closing service on Saturday.

The accident which claimed 25 lives occurred on the road which PF paid a bogus contractor to expand the road but he has not done the works.

Pathologists were yesterday directed to do quick postmortem on all the bodies which were in the Kabwe general hospital mortuary.
