Three travellers wearing UPND T-shirts have been seriously injured at Intercity bus terminus after being beaten by PF thugs clad in T-shirts bearing Edgar Lungu’s portrait.
Webby Mwala, a Sesheke resident was attacked and beaten by Lungu’s supporters when he was trying to get on a bus to go back home. Webby’s uncle drove him to Intercity but just when he was getting into a Mazhandu bus, PF cadres pulled him away and hit him with planks and fists. On the other side of the bus terminals, another group of Lungu’s supporters were attacking another unidentified person for the same ‘offence’ of wearing UPND campaign materials.
Lungu’s supporters told their victims that they can not allow them to put on UPND materials because Intercity bus terminals is now a PF barrack.
After injuring the victims, they ordered them to wash away the blood but well wishers managed to whisk them to Lusaka central police station.
Just after reporting the matter at the police and as they were leaving, another team of Lungu’ supporters attacked one of the individuals who escorted the victims to the police.
Even if the attackers are well known, none of them has been arrested so far.
Meanwhile the UPND has warned that if the police do not take action on the thugs that are harassing people at the bus station, UPND supporters will very soon mobilise themselves and flash out the thugs.
