Tribunal’s last witness nails Kabimba.

The Wynter Kabimba tribunal this morning concluded its proceedings with the last witness on stand nailing Justice Minister Wynter Kabimba. Leonard Banda the losing PF parliamentary candidate in the 2011 Petauke Central parliamentary elections told the Justice Evans Hamaundu headed tribunal that he used a legal opinion given to Kabimba by Solicitor General Musa Mwenye to block Dora Siliya and others from re-contesting their seats.
Mr. Banda who visibly showed that most of the documents filed in court were done without his knowledge further testified that he did not pay anything for the legal opinion from the Solicitor General. When further asked by petitioners lawyer Makebi Zulu, Banda said everything pertaining to the matter was done by the party and he was not aware whether the party paid for the legal opinion or not. Mr. Banda confirmed the petitioners allegations that Kabimba used an opinion obtained in his official capacity for party purposes. Meanwhile the tribunal concluded its proceedings after Leonard Banda testified. Justice Hamaundu said the tribunal has gathered enough information from the witnesses to come up with a report. This is despite petitioners lawyers wanting to call Acting Chief Justice Lombe Chibesakunda and Terry Musonda the Judiciary Public Relations Officer as witnesses.
Mr. Hamaundu has asked both parties to file in submissions by February 7,2014 before a final report is done and handed over to President Michael Sata, Speaker of National Assembly, petitioners, respondents and the media.
