Police in Mumbwa have arrested three people for stealing one hundred million kwacha belonging to Bayport Financial Services.
Police spokesperson Elizabeth Kanjela confirmed the arrest to ZNBC news in a statement.
She said one of the suspects Mutale Mulenga, 32 allegedly connived with two other friends Steven Musonda and Daniel Mhango to rob his Bayport workmate Feston Chifunda, 58 with whom he had travelled to Mumbwa from Lusaka to pay out loans to teachers.
Ms Kanjela said the incident happened on 16th and 17th January, 2012.
She said Mulenga stole the money from his workmate Chifunda at the lodge where they were booked and immediately fled to Lusaka.
She said Mulenga was however apprehended after his workmate reported the matter to police.
He confessed to stealing the money upon being interrogated, while police managed to recover 83 million kwacha from his two friends who were nabbed in Chililabombwe where they had fled.
