Chief resident magistrate Charles Kafunda has convicted Munali MP Mumbi Phiri and Mandevu Mp Jean Kapata for disorderly conduct.
But the two PF MPs survived jail sentences as they have been fined K135, 000 each. The K135, 000 is translated from the 750 units which the court has fined them.
This is in a case in which Munali Mp Mumbi Phiri and Mandevu Mp Jean Kapata were jointly charged with two counts of unnecessary hooting and disorderly conduct in a police station.
It was alleged that the two MPs while driving two different vehicles on Great East Road hooted unnecessarily contrary to section 223 (1) and (2) of the Road Traffic Act.
The duo was also facing a joint count of disorderly conduct in a police station contrary to section 60 (i) of the Zambia Police Act Chapter 107 of the Laws of Zambia.
