United States Ambassador to Zambia Mark Storella has called on government to increase budgetary allocation to the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) and Auditor General (A.G) Office as it will help fight corruption.
Storella told the media that only when ACC and A.G Office are allocated more funds and have credible staff can the two institutions work and succeed in curbing abuse of public funds.
He commended the Patriotic Front (PF) Government for its political will to fight corruption and better the lives of the Zambian people.
Meanwhile, Transparency International Zambia (TIZ) Executive Director Goodwell Lungu has urged the new regime to handle the misappropriation of public funds professionally if the vice is to be curbed.
Lungu said institutions entrusted with the task of investigating corrupt practices must focus on the entire system and not personalities.
He advised President Michael Sata and his cabinet to analyze issues and find out what could have gone wrong so that individuals found wanting should be probed.
Lungu further appealed to government to ensure the fight is handled professionally so as to safeguard public resources and restore sanity back to Zambia.
