British government departments and investors are unnerved by the detention of Hakainde Hichilema, British High Commissioner to Zambia has revealed.
Unnerved means lose confidence.
High Commissioner Fergus Cochrane-Dyet tweeted that apart from concerns over the incarceration of UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema, the British ministerial departments and investors were also hopeful there could be movements in the stalled planned economic recovery programme to be supported by a U$ $1.6 billion interest-free-loan from the International Monetary Fund.
‘In London for consultations. Everyone, UK investors, Whitehall depts, expressing concern about Zambia treason trial and hoping for IMF programme,’ High Commissioner Cochrane-Dyet tweeted.
Whitehall is the informal name of the British civil service as most ministries are located on Whitehall road in central London.
The Police has detained Hichilema for over a month on allegations that he planned to topple President Edgar Lungu’s government.
