According to a statement by the British High Commission in Zambia, the UK Government will be represented by Lord Popat, the Government Whip in the House of Lords.
The Wife of Prince Edward, who is referred to as ‘Her Royal Highness the Countess of Wessex’ will visit Zambia from 10-11 November in order to represent Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth
Prince Edward is the Queen’s youngest son.
The British High Commissioner James Thornton said:
“The British Government was greatly saddened by the death of President Sata. I am pleased that a leading member of the Royal Family will represent Her Majesty at the State funeral, and that a British Government Minister will also pay his respects”.
