Unions threaten to drag UNZA management to court over salary increments

The University of Zambia Professional Staff Union (UNZAPROSU) and University of Zambia and Allied Workers Union (UNZAAWU) have threatened to drag UNZA management to court if they do not correct the anomalies in salary increments for UNZA workers.
In a joint statement by UNZAPROSU and UNZAAWA, the two unions have demanded that the Vice Chancellor should correct the anomalies in the 2015 salary increments and ensure that all workers get the same percentage.
The two unions are protesting the awarding of a10 percent salary increment to UNZALARU members while their members were awarded a 5 percent increment.
The two unions have argued that they had accepted the 5 percent increment after the Vice Chancellor indicated that the institution had no capacity to effect any increment above 5 percent.
The two unions have warned that their members will not participate in computing the 10 percent increment to UNZALARU unless their members are also given the same percentage before 10th January 2016.
