Minister of Higher Education Nkandu Luo has maintained that the University of Zambia and the Copperbelt University will remain closed until the two institutions meet the required hygiene standards.
Luo says the two Public Universities will not be opened to safeguard the lives of students who come from different parts of the country.
She said this to Parliament in a Ministerial statement.
And Luo has urged political players not to politicise the closure of the Universities because the move is aimed at improving hygiene levels in the higher learning institutions.
She claimed that the Cholera epidemic is not an excuse for the Universities to remain closed but that the epidemic is real, and some families have lost their beloved ones.
Luo said Public Health Inspectors will continue to carry out routine inspections and that they will advise when to open the two Universities
