University students in court for drug trafficking

Two students from Mulungushi University in Kabwe appeared before the Magistrate court for trafficking in different quantities of Cannabis but the duo pleaded not guilty.

Ndambo Chinda, 22 and his co accused Missel Mwanza are alleged to have been found with 43 muffins and 32 grammes of Cannabis, they were arrested by the Drug Enforcement Commission and presented to court.

The court adjourned the matter to 25th June for commencement of trial but the duo remain remanded in custody because drug trafficking has no bail.

Two days ago, two other graduates from Northern technical College (Nortec) in Ndola were shot dead at Lusaka’s Twin Palm shopping mall after attempting to steal money from a cash in transit van, others fled the scene and went away with over K300,000.

And earlier this month, some graduates staged a protest against the PF government for lack of employment in the country. They argued that the situation has rendered some of them to selling newspapers and vegetables on the streets while others resorted to vices like prostitution, drug trafficking and armed robbery.
