Unpaid and suffering Luwingu  farmers to boycott jubilee celebrations

Farmers in Luwingu have threatened to boycott the golden jubilee independence celebrations should government fail to pay them for the maize they sold to the Food Reserve Agency (FRA).

The farmers said they cannot celebrate independence when they are failing to send their children to school because government is not paying them.

The bankrupt PF government has not only failed to pay the farmers who supplied maize to the Food Reserve Agency (FRA) but has further told farmers through ceremonial vice president Guy Scott to find their own market for the remaining maize claiming FRA has bought enough maize.

Early in the marketing season the same government had warned farmers not to sell their maize to briefcase buyers promising that the FRA would buy their maize at a better price.

The PF is now deducting K7 crop levy and money for empty bags from the poor farmers.
