UNZA students in running battles with police again, CBU plan tomorrow

University of Zambia Great East Road campus students are running battles with police demonstrating against the removal of fuel and maize subsidies.

Police have since closed the Great East Road from Arcades Round about to Munali Round about to try and clear the rioting students forcing motorists to use alternative routes.

The students talked to said this is just the beginning as they plan a class boycott tomorrow in what they are calling ‘Black Friday’.

Meanwhile quick action by police prevented Copperbelt University students in Kitwe from protesting this afternoon after a number of then had mobilized themselves.

Reports reaching the Watchdog indicate that CBU students also plan to protest against the increase in mealie meal and fuel prices plus the impeding electricity tariffs hike.

So far, only Evelyn Hone College Students have supported the move to increase the prices that has been roundly condemned by church organization, NGOs, political parties, and economists.

PF has been spending huge sums of money on by-elections and a huge cabinet that comprises more than 80 ministers each one with not less than three vehicles, salaries, allowances, and travel expenses.
