UPND accuses PF of corrupting Mwakalombe into resignation

United Party for National Development (UPND) Choma Central Member of Parliament Cornelius Mweetwa has accused the ruling Patriotic Front (PF) of causing unnecessary by-elections in the country and particularly in Chongwe.

In a statement released to the watchdog Mweetwa, who is also UPND Deputy Spokesperson, charged that PF influenced Movement for Multi party Democracy (MMD) Chongwe MP Japhen Mwakalombe  by promising him a position in the Foreign Service.

He said Mwakalombe was promised a job so that he surrenders the seat for former MMD MP Sylvia Masebo, who is now a member of the ruling party.

He disclosed that his party is ready to contest the Chongwe seat and is doing all it can to secure victory in the November 23rd election.

Mweetwa further said UPND is on the ground consulting voters on whom they would prefer to be adopted to stand in the bye-election.
