The UPND has officially written to the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) to cancel a tender it plans to give to a terrorist company to print ballot papers.
The PF has directed the ECZ to give Al Ghurair Printing and Publishing LLC, a company headquartered in United Arab Emirates (UAE) ‘s commercial capital Dubai but believed to have terrorist links and has branches in terrorist dominated countries. A lot of PF officials and ECZ directors have bank accounts in Dubai and it is believed that the same company has been hired to rig the elections.
Dindi and Company lawyers have told ECZ that the UPND objects to awarding this sensitive contrary to a company which stake holders in the election do not trust. The UPND lawyers have told ECZ to remove the Dubai company from the list of companies that it is considering giving the contract or face court action.
The UPND state that the there was procedural impropriety in the way the ECZ picked the Dubai printers as they did not do any due diligence. The lawyers explained that if ECZ conducted any due diligence, they ought to have discovered that the Dubai firm was involved in electoral malpractices in other countries.
The lawyers explained that the same terrorist company was used to tamper with elections in Uganda and the Supreme Court of Uganda found on facts that the printing company engaged in malpractice such as delivering ballots late deliberately.
The UPND lawyers told the ECZ that the UPND objects to giving the the contract to print ballot papers to any printing company that participated in the Ugandan elections.
