UPND may field Captain Moono in Chilanga

A typical house in Chilanga consituency

The United Party for National Development (UPND) is considering sponsoring Captain Cosmos Moono as candidate for the Chilanga, parliamentary bye-election.
The Watchdog understands that Moono is likely to be picked because there is little time to market candidates who are not known in the area.
Moono was Chilanga MP from 2001 to 2006 but was ‘bruised’ by MMD’s Ng’andu Magande in 2006.
The last parliamentary election in Chilanga were held in 2006.
Magande got 6,485 while Moono in second position polled 6,070.
PF’s Priscilla Kamanga was in third position with 4,428 votes.
