Opposition UPND has again notified the Zambia Police Service of their intention to hold a public rally this Sunday 3rd November 2013 in Kanyama Compound’s Twashuka grounds.
According to a letter dated 25th October 2013 addressed to Lusaka Province police Commissioner, deputy party secretary General Kuchunga Simusamba said following the successful hold of the mammoth Mandevu rally that was peaceful, the party now believes they can have another peaceful rally in Kanyama Compound this weekend.
Mr. Simusamba said he delivered the letter well within the stipulated seven days notice time though as is therefore awaiting for a positive response from the police, especially that the party has so far demonstrated that they can organise a peaceful rally.
He said all the party logistics for this Sunday’s rally were in place at which party president Hakainde Hichilema will be among the speakers.
A few weeks ago, the UPND held a rally in Mandevu after months of failed attempts because the police could not allow them to go ahead yet PF cadres were all-over the streets of Lusaka demonstrating in calling for the removal of Justice Minister Wynter Kabimba as Secretary General of the party without a permit.
