The UPND has picked former Eastern Province Permanent Secretary Eularia Zulu Mwale as their candidate for Feira parliamentary by-election.The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) set June 20, 2013 as the date for by-elections in Lusaka’s Feira Constituency.
Born Eularia Zulu in Chief Mburuma’s area, Mrs Mwale who is a former University of Zambia graduate and a career teacher as well as a social worker, was the last permanent secretary of Eastern province under the MMD government.
UPND Deputy General Secretary Kuchunga Simusamba announced today that Mrs Mwale was picked after recommendations by the local people and UPND structures in Feira.
And Mrs. Mwale, who said she was confident of scooping the seat, explained that the local people had approached her to stand as an MP on the UPND ticket.
“I am a local person in the area and people said I should contest under the UPND as it was the party of hope for all Zambians,” she said.
The Feira seat fell vacant after area MP Patrick Ngoma was bribed and followed his belly by joining the ruling PF where he became one of the many deputy ministers loitering around the corridors of power while enjoying tax-payers money.
MMD who also indicated that they will contest the seat have not announced their candidate while the ruling PF are likely to retain the same traitor Ngoma as he has already been abusing public resources campaigning in the area using a ministerial vehicle.
