The UPND has adopted a local businessman and former UPND Mangango Ward Councillor, Godwin Putu as its candidate in the August 19 Mangango parliamentary by-elections.
UPND Deputy Spokesperson, Edwin Lifwekelo, has told QFM News in an interview that the decision to adopt Mr. Putu was arrived at after wider consultations with the local people.
Mr. Lifwekelo says Mr. Putu is a local businessman in Mangango constituency and is capable of taking development to the constituency.
Mr. Lifwekelo says the party is confident that Mr. Putu will scoop the Mangango seat considering that he has been endorsed by the people in the constituency and was not imposed by the party leadership.
And Mr Putu has told QFM News in a separate interview that he is humbled to be adopted by the party and will ensure that he delivers according to the people’s expectations once elected.
Mr. Putu says Mangango constituency is neglected and felt disconnected from the rest of the country and that it is his duty to ensure that the constituency receives its share of development.
