United Party for National Development (UPND) representative at the printing of ballot papers at Universal Printing Group in South Africa, Brian Hapunda has says the information being given by Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) to printers is wrong.
In a telephone interview, Hapunda said his party had spotted errors on ballot papers belonging to two of UPND’s aspiring parliamentary candidates for Kabushi and Kafulafuta as the pictures generated on the documents were not of the individuals adopted by the party.
He also assured Zambians that UPND would be vigilant to ensure credible ballot papers are produced to allow for free and fair polls.
Meanwhile, UPND Leader Hakainde Hichilema has charged that the country’s electoral code of conduct is useless and will only be seen to be credible when the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) works as an independent body.
Hichilema said the electoral code of conduct can be rubbished as laws are only of value when they are followed.
The UPND President further said there is need to adhere to regulations that are set and law enforcement officers must prosecute all individuals who breach the set laws.
