UPND suspends councilors for voting for MMD

The United Party for National Development (UPND) has suspended its Luanshya councilors for voting  for the MMD councilor as mayor.

Councilors Gladwell Lungu and Biston Njobvu voted for the MMD’s Kayekesi who was re contesting the seat of mayor. He returned the seat due to the UPND votes.

The UPND and PF have an electoral pact which requires the two parties to collaborate in all electoral matters at every level.

Last week the UPND suspended its Namwala MP Robbie Chizyuka who has since said he does not support the pact between UPND and PF.
