The United Party for National Development on the Copperbelt has expressed anger and disappointment at the manner Sports minister Chishimba Kambwili and the Zambia Police closed Roan Antelope Golf Club operations.
UPND Copperbelt spokesperson Kennedy Kalunga says the closure of the Club has created more unemployment in Luanshya.
‘As United Party for National Development, we would like to remind the PF Government that Roan Antelope Golf Club was under receivership, (RAMCOZ) but the Ministry of Sports has no jurisdiction whatsoever on any property that is under the receivership by the Attorney General, which falls under the Ministry of Justice. The Luanshya Municipal Council falls under the Ministry of Local Government and it cannot be supervised by the Ministry of Sports because the case at hand is under the Ministry of Justice which is the custodian of property under receivership such as Roan Antelope Golf Club,’ Kqlunga said.
He said: ‘as a Party, (UPND Copperbelt) we would like find out whether the Minister of Sports, Mr. C. Kambwili has the right to dissolve Roan Antelope Golf Club and later transfer it to Luanshya Municipal Council to run it. This trend has led to a lot of people being victimized and in some instances some people have lost their jobs..’
‘We are therefore appealing to the PF Government and President Sata to quickly address the situation before many lives are lost out of hunger when there no jobs. If they don’t act now, be rest assured that when UPND forms government in 2016, we shall reopen it.’
