UPND wins byelection in Lungu’s Village

The UPND has scooped the local government by-election in Petauke District, according to results confirmed and published by the Electoral Commission of Zambia.

Final Results as posted by the ECZ:

Lusinde Ward, Petauke District

Banda Nephat A – UPND: 730
Tembo Elina – PF: 573

The result of the Petauke by-election is more significant than the fake victory by PF in Mangango because, among other reasons, Mangango was not free and fair. Refugees were voting and PF was giving voters money. The UPND campaign team was led by very junior officials, not even Vice President GBM went to Mangango. HH also did not go there. He was kept busy by police cases.

But the PF took it as a do or die election. President Edgar Lungu himself was there as was the entire state machinery.

Moreover, President Lungu and chief government spokeswoman Dora Siliya all hail from Petauke. The truth is that, if elections in Zambia were conducted in a free and fair manner, UPND would have won the Kasenengwa by election. PF is very unpopular in rural areas of kumawa.
