UPND wins Copperbelt ward, leading in Katuba (updated)

The UPND has won the Mvula ward in the local by-election in Chililabombwe of the Copperbelt province.

UPND candidate Simukoko Kelly the winner got 139 followed by with 123, MMD 37, an independent candidate got 33. 5 votes were rejected. 337 total votes were cast.

In Katuba, From ballots that had been counted from 13 polling station, the UPND was leading with 1964. The ruling PF trailing with 1336 while MMD had 38.

There are 32 polling stations in Katuba…



From the 21 polling stations that had been counted by hours local time, UPND was leading with 3, 526. PF had 1734. MMD had 411. Other parties had less than 200 combined.
The problem for the PF is that the remaining ballots are from the deep rural areas where villagers have been affected negatively by the shoddy agricultural policy.
For example, at Kapopolo village in Mungulu ward. PF got 34 while UPND garnered 169. these have not yet been added to the total above.
UPND cadres have started celebrating….
