UPND wins Kafulafuta and Solwezi, MMD takes Chipata

mtoloThe opposition MMD has retained Chipata Central while the UPND has won Kafulafuta on the Copperbelt and Solwezi East in the Northwestern province.
The ruling PF has won Mkushi in Central province.

MMD Mtolo Phiri retained the Chipata Central seat after amassing 8186 votes beating his closest rival Lameck Mangani of the PF who received 5913 votes.

Brian Chitafu of UPND in  Kafulafuta polled 2,504 followed by ruling PF’s James Chishiba with 2,407 while NAREP’s Jimmy Kasabwa managed 329 votes.

In Solwezi East, UPND’s Villie Lombanya polled 3,127 votes followed by the PF with 1,474.

In Mkushi North, PF’s Ingrid Mphande looked set for victory with preliminary results showing that she had received 3287 while the MMD was in second with 1104 votes.

PF agents and officials ran away from counting centres just after they realised that they have suffered humiliating defeat even after using all sorts  of rigging tricks.
Elated by the victory against he brutal regime of Sata, UPND vice-president Canicius Banda commented that:
‘Taking Zambia Forward (and away from a culture of lies and deception): The UPND penetrates the Copperbelt as it wins Kafulafuta; and also breaks new ground by winning Solwezi East. MMD retains Chipata Central as the divide between Michael Sata and Wynter Kabimba widens; Mkushi North consoles the PF!
