UPND wins Kaoma and Mwinilunga by-elections

UPND wins Kaoma and Mwinilunga by-elections

The UPND has won the local government by-election held in  Samuteba Ward of Mwininlunga District yesterday.

The  following are the results as declared by the Electoral Commission of Zambia:

UPND 1140
PF 827
Rejected 23
Total 1990

However, The ruling PF has won the local government by-election held in  Chikonkwelo Ward in Kabompo District.

Meanwhile, The  UPND has retained the Kaoma council chairmanship. For a long time, the PF has been trying to project itself as being popular in Kaoma District which has two Constutuencies namely Kaoma Central and Mangango.

It is Mangango that PF has been rigging since the time of Wynter Kabimba.

For some reason, the UPND has been ‘neglecting’ Kaoma District. But this time it seems they decided to call PF’s bluff .  During the last by-election in Mangango, UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema did not even go to campaign, But yesterday in Kaoma, he did not move an inch until the last ballot was counted .

According to ECZ, Kaoma district has 47,789 registered voters with 66 polling stations and 87 polling streams.
