UPND youths have rubbished the claims by PF’s Brian Hapunda that he was attacked at the funeral house of the late Lusaka businessman Reeves Malambo. Hapunda claims he was sent by President Edgar Lungu to represent him at the funeral and was later attacked by UPND cadres.
In rubbishing Hapunda’s claims, UPND national youth spokesperson Gilbert Liswaniso said that UPND youths have no time to waste on people regarded as non factors both within and outside the PF such as Hapunda. He has charged that it is in fact Hapunda who has been moving about with guns and warned him to stop threatening to shoot without cause.
And some family members to the deceased have told the Watchdog that Hapunda was not at any time attacked by any UPND cadres who were present. The family member who was one of the ushers said that Hapunda wanted to occupy one of the seats reserved for one of the deceased’s children but became unruly after he was told that the seat he wanted to take was reserved for a child.
“He came and wanted to take a seat reserved for one of the children, he was claiming that he had been sent to represent President Lungu but then we told him that the seat he wanted was not for that purpose but in process started shouting, wanting to attract attention by creating commotion at the funeral,” said the family member.
