UPND,ZUFIAW call for pro-poor budget

United Party for National Development (UPND) National Youth Coordinator Brian Hapunda says his party expects the 2012 national budget to be one that favors youth in the country.

Hapunda told the watchdog that there is need for the Patriotic Front government to have a budget that is robust as it will ensure job creation in the nation.

He said government must implement policies that will see to the reduction of fuel and diesel as it will lead to most commodities being sold at an affordable.

And Zambia Union of Financial Institutions and Allied Workers (ZUFIAW) president Cephas Mukuka has called for a pro-poor 2012 budget from the PF government.

Mukuka said President Michael Sata’s regime should ensure the budget is user friendly and covers everyone especially those living in abject poverty.

He further said government must take into account the welfare of the people and allocate adequate funding to all sectors of the economy.
