The American government says it is not meddling in Zambia’s internal affairs contrary to President Rupiah Banda’s statement last week.
American Embassy Charge De’ Affairs, Stephen Schwartz, said in an interview on ZNBC’s Mid Morning programme with Frank Mutubila this morning that everything the American government is doing in sectors such as health and agriculture is in line with what the Zambian government asked the Americans to do.
He says everything the American government does in the country is with the corperation of the Zambian government.
Meanwhile, Mr. Schwartz asked the Zambian government to state if the aid from the US is not helping at all in the country.
Mr. Schwartz said he believes America’s millions of dollars worth of aid to Zambia is helping a lot in the country.
He said if his country’s aid to Zambia is not helping matters, the Zambian government should let those providing the aid know so that they can know what to do.
And on America’s envasion of Iraq in 2003, Ambassador Schwartz said it was necessary because Iraq under the leadership of Saddam Hussein was posing a threat to the international community.
He said the envasion of Iraq was done to protect America’s citizens from the threat Iraq was posing to the international community.
He said the fact that late Iraq leader is now gone is something that everyone can be happy about.
