UTH rocked by thefts of installations

The University Teaching Hospital in Lusaka has been hit by a spate of thefts of building installations due to poor security at the institution.

Thieves are said to have taken advantage of poor security at the country’s biggest health facility and are stealing sinks, floor tiles, cisterns and electrical installations like light switches thereby making the institution lose money in replacing them.

Management sources have told the Watchdog that the institution cannot employ an adequate number of security personnel due to erratic funding from the government.

Recently, a patient was attacked in the hospital ward while another terminally ill teenage girl was reported to have been continuously defiled by her father who was on her bedside.
