Video showing police brutality during arrest of GBM emerges

A video showing three Zambia police officers savagely beating up an unarmed person believed to be a supporter of the main opposition UPND has emerged.

The video shows the police attacking the yet to be identified person with gun buts, fists and slaps. The defenseless man is seen collapsing, struggling to stand as the police hit him to the ground.

The attempted murder of the defenseless person happened on Wednesday March 2, 2016 during the arrest of UPND vice-president Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba (GBM) at Woodlands Police Station.

Hundreds of UPND supporters followed GBM to the police station to show solidarity.

It is believed that many people were beaten by the police in what seems to be a precursor of the police brutality that will characterize the presidential and general elections in August.
