Violence erupted in Solwezi Thursday morning as parliamentary candidates tried to file nominations for the bye-election set for November 19.
Radio Phoenix reports from Solwezi that UPND/PF cadres clashed with supporters of the MMD near the civic centre.
UPND president Hakainde Hichilema is in Solwezi and the Watchdog has been informed that he will camp there until the day of voting.
Hichilema was supposed to address pact supporters after his candidate filed in his nominations but a dispute of venue arose with MMD cadres who wanted to use the same venue.
According to radio Phoenix, some UPND/PF supports sustained serious injuries and one vehicle reportedly damaged.
Police had to fire tear gas to separate the cadres before HH was forced to use another venue.
