Zambians around the country have taken to the streets to celebrate the victory of President- elect Michael Chilufya Sata of the Patriotic Front (PF) who beat his closest rival, Incumbent President Rupiah Banda of the Movement for Multi-party Democracy (MMD).
Thousands of citizens have been outside their homes since midnight and are chanting PF slogans as they sing the famous “donchi kubeba” song.
Several Zambians talked have expressed happiness at President Sata’s victory as it is a clear indication that democracy exists in the nation.
There is a lot of excitement from the public in Lusaka who have already pulled down posters of Rupiah Banda and some of them are giving the MMD T-shirts to their dogs to wear.
Most voters have disclosed that their expectations are high as they are looking forward to see a nation with meaningful economic growth and development.
