11 September 2009 13:20

President Rupiah Banda says government is committed to the fight against corruption and will ensure prudent use of donor funds.

The President says government is aware of the sacrifices that citizens in donor countries make to support poverty reduction porgrammes in Zambia.

He says the government will therefore ensure that every penny received from cooperating partners is accounted for.

Mr. Banda also says his government will continue fostering good governance and the rule of law to ensure a better life for Zambians.

President Banda was speaking at state house on Friday when he received letters of credence from the new German ambassador to Zambia, Frank Meyke.

And Mr. Meyke called on the Zambian government to strengthen corruption institutions in the country to enhance the fight against the vice.

He also said Germany will continue giving budgetary support to Zambia.
