Opposition Monze UPND MP, Jackie Mwiimbu, this afternoon wondered who will present the national budget on Friday in the absence of the Finance Minister, Alexander Chikwanda, who is currently the Acting president and is not attending parliament.
In a point of order, Mr. Mwiimbu wondered what would happen since the Finance Minister delivers the budget on behalf of the president.
Mr. Mwiimbu said he was worried because for the first time in the history of parliament, the President is likely to present the national budget himself, unless reshuffles are done before this Friday and normalise the situation.
President Michael Sata yesterday left for a 12 days trip to Japan and South Korea and left Finance Minister Mr. Chikwanda as Acting President.
As Acting president, Mr. Chikwanda is currently not attending parliament.
In response, Speaker of National Assembly Patrick Matibini said he did not want to be pre-emptive on what the Executive would do on Friday.
