Widow arrested for stealing money left by hubby to children

Police in Kabwe have arrested a widow Agnes Mukuka of Kapiri Mposhi together with a Mr. Mkandawire, a Barclays Bank official of Kapiri Branch over a bank fraud involving K30, 000.
The money was part of the estates left by Agness Mukuka’s late husband for his three children where the oldest is only 7 years old.
This was after the widow finished her 20% share of the estates amounting to over K90,000. The deceased died five months ago and was an employee of Zambia Revenue Authority in Chirundu.
The widow is said to have connived with the banker to withdraw the money from a joint account belonging to the children where the Widow and another Administrator are supposed to both sign.
The duo forged a death certificate purporting that the other administrator had also died when he is still alive.
The banker happens to be a sitting tenant to the widow in her matrimonial house, a semi-detached flat, which they share in Kapiri’s Riverside Residential area and is believed to be her boy friend.
Police have since recovered K27, 000 and an un-registered Toyota Spacio, which was bought from the same money. The car was sold by the banker to the widow after successfully conducting the fraud.
The matter is supposed to come up in Kapiri Magistrate Court on Tuesday 24th December, 2013.
