Woman found dead near Namakau House; road accident in Kabwe kills 1, injures 12

The Zambia Police is investigating the murder case in which a woman aged between 20 -25years old was found dead in Chilenje area near Namakau House  today around 11:00 hours along Chilumbulu Road.

Police Deputy Public Relations Officer Charity Munganga says the body of the deceased was found this morning under a hedge near Namakau house in Chilenje and has since been identified as Mazuba Kapepwa of Woodlands’ Sida Road House Number 22.

Mrs. Munganga said the body of Mazuba had no physical injuries but that she is suspected to have been raped before she was killed because the zip of her clothing was found open.

She said Mazuba is believed to have gone out last evening with an unidentified friend using an unidentified minibus. The body of the deceased is since lying in the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) Mortuary awaiting post-mortem.

And in another development, one person has died  while 14 others have sustained serious injuries after their vehicle overturned along Munkonchi Road about 2 kilometres North of Kizito Primary School in Kabwe.

The accident happened when the driver of the canter registration number ACL 6365, who has been identified as Osten Ntomba, 30, of Munkonchi Kanyemu area lost control of the of the vehicle due to excessive speed.

Mrs.  Munganga said the deceased has been identified as Bupe Muwowo aged 37 of Munkonchi area and 14 passengers that were injured have since been admitted to Kabwe General Hospital for treatment.

She said the driver of the vehicle Osten Ntomba has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving contrary to section 161 of the Road Traffic Act number 11 of 2002 of the laws of Zambia while the body of Bupe Muwowo is lying in the Kabwe General Hospital Mortuary.
