Government have failed to construct enough wards for patients at Kasavasa health centre in Kabwe, and the situation has led to women, men and children sharing the same ward.
Health authorities and residents have been crying for improved health services at the health centre which caters for over 10,000 people but government has ignored. The health centre is also under staffed and has inadequate houses for nurses.
Kabwe Distrct commissioner Patrick Chishala visited the health centre in the company of District medical officer Elizabeth Meleki, and found over 30 males and female patients all crowded in one ward. As usual Chishala promised that his government would look into the matter.
Last year government stubbornly fired over 500 nurses for asking for improved payment, disregarding the outcry of medical workers in the country.
