The Media Liaison Committee (MLC) has told Information and Broadcasting Minister Chishimba Kambwili that he does not own the public media in Zambia.
Commenting on the suspension of Zambia Union of Broadcasters and other Information Disseminators (ZUBID) General Secretary Martin Maseka by Kambwili’s ZNBC Management, MLC Spokesperson Patson Phiri has said that Maseka did not commit any offence by rubbishing Kambwili’s threats on striking unionised workers at ZNBC.
‘The public media does not belong to him as a minister neither to the Patriotic Front Party but to the people of Zambia,’ charged Phiri.
He said Kambwili has in the recent past been going overboard in his handling of the public media and stressed that Kambwili’s conduct towards the public media was a matter of concern.
The MLC has since demanded for the immediate lifting of Maseka’s suspension and has described it as a mere passing phase.
