Workers at the Zalco factory in Kabwe have staged a boycott and threatened to burn the plant, demanding for salary increment and payment of three months arrears.
Some operators at the plant get as low as K279 net pay. On Monday morning they had gathered outside the plant and blocked the road leading to Mulungushi farm block.
The company was recently caught up in a brawl with the Kabwe pastors fellowship after it was discovered that they were destroying Bibles for recycling into their paper industry. Some workers also complained that they have not been compensated for injuries sustained while on duty.
