Long suffering workers at Zambezi Portland Cement Limited have turned the heat on joint ZPC CEO Gomeli Litana and now want him to go following a court victory by Finsbury Investments Limited in the Court of Appeal.
Some workers talked to, spoke of how they suffered during the court battle over ownership which had dragged on for 10 years.
“We want the man at the helm of ZPC to go quickly because we have suffered enough. We have been getting peanuts as workers and our rights have been abused for a long time. With the court victory by Finsbury InvestmentsLimited, we are confident that things will turn for the better,” said a workers’ representative speaking on condition of anonymity yesterday.
“We have suffered enough and the only hope we have is Dr. Rajan Mathani through Finsbury Investments Limited. The company ZPC Limited has been stripped of its assets and monies is US$ externalised abroad. We all happy that our lives will be back to normal now.”
In order to safeguard the interest of the employees and other stakeholders, Finsbury Investments Limited as the majority shareholder of ZPC Limited has since appointed Phesto Ndololo Musonda as Joint CEO to work with Litana who was appointed by the minority shareholders.
A Directors’ Meeting will be held on February 25, 2019 and a Shareholders’s meeting has been set for March 4, 2019.
