Zambia chases Zimbabwean sex workers ahead of UWTO

Zambian officials have deported 14 Zimbabwean women from Livingstone, a tourist town that is set to host the World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) general assembly

The women are accused of engaging in prostitution.

The women were arrested after a joint operation conducted by Immigration and Zambia Police.

Immigration department public relations officer Namati Nshinka said in a statement that the 14 Zimbabwean women were served with notices to
leave Zambia.

“The Department can confirm that all the 14 have since exited the country.

This follows a similar operation conducted in Lusaka on July 6, 2013, which led to the removal of 33 foreign prostitutes .The Immigration
and Deportation Act number 18 of 2010 prohibits any foreign national from engaging in prostitution,” Mr Nshinka said.
