Chipolopolo striker Collins Mbesuma on Wednesday night announced his return to the international fore with a goal in the 4-0 triumph over Swaziland.
Mbesuma has not made the first team for Zambia in over 12 months but was one of the four scorers in Wednesday’s international friendly at Masuvo Sports Complex in Manzini.
The former Kaizer Chiefs striker was on target in the 48th minute to increase Chipolopolo’s tally after James Chamanga’s opener delivered 15 minutes into the first half.
In-form Orlando Pirates midfielder Isaac Chansa ensured Zambia’s healthy outing when he made it 3-0 in the 56th minute with Bloemfontein Celtics winger Clifford Mulenga completing the rout four minutes into added time.
The victory has given Zambia, who recently suffered a free-fall on the FIFA monthly ranking to a record low 101 placing, some confidence ahead of the Mozambique fixture.
Coach Dario Bonetti’s side next month takes on Mozambique in the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Maputo.
The Italian, whose team lies third on three points after two matches, was using the international friendly to assess players ahead of the fixture.
Mozambique and Libya are joint Group C leaders on four points apiece.
