GEORGE TOWN (Oct 19, 2011): The High Court here (Malaysia) ordered a Zambian woman to enter her defence today to a charge of trafficking 770.2 grammes of methamphetamine last year.
Judge Amin Firdaus Abdullah said the defence had successfully proven a prima facie case against the accused, Mailesi Phiri, 34.
She allegedly committed the offence on Dec 8 last year at the Penang International Airport.
The charge comes under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 which provides for a mandatory death sentence upon conviction.
Phiri is represented by S. Yagoo. Prosecution is carried out Deputy Public Prosecutor Nur Sarah Dina Baharudin. – Bernama
