Zambians do not care

This question sounds funny but it is real. We ask this question because at times it can really be frustrating to be a Watchdog in Zambia. A Watchdog can be a journalist or an organisation that provides an oversight role. Our role as Journalists here is to bring to light what the authority tend to hide to the Public. There are a number of financial scandals that the media in Zambia especially the Zambian Watchdog and then the Post Newspapers have exposed but have gone on deaf ears to both the public and the government. It is life as usual. Some politicians like Comrade Saviour Chishimba have exposed serious corruption by the first family but everything looks normal. Just some few months ago, we reported that Edgar Lungu, Ronald Chitotela and Rupiah Banda have struck a nasty deal with some Turkish businessmen to buy off an over valued building opposite the Zambia Information, Communication and Technology Authority (ZICTA) Head Office in exchange for a link to a loan. This loan is not going to be paid back by these thugs but Zambians as taxpayers. Go to that building today. It is the Ministry of Infrastructure where Chitotela is the Minister. For those in Lusaka, you go and look at the building and find out if it can cost US8million. Our source from the Attorney General’s Chambers is also shocked at that amount. The Attorney General Chambers did documentation on government part but from the Turkish firm who did the Conveyance? Where was the tender advertised to ask for Valuers to value that building? Which company valued it? Where did the money to buy that building come from when it was not budgeted for? Where is the Parliamentary Accounts Committee headed by Howard Kunda? Is the role of PAC to be flying around? Where is authority from the Zambia Public Procurement Authority? When did Chitotela’s ministry advertise tenders for solicitation of office space?may be the country could have found a cheaper source. We are saying the country because this money is not private money from these buggers. As if this is not enough we now have to pay US1.2 billion for a 321km road. Meanwhile, estimates from the Engineering Institutition of Zambia (EIZ) a body with authority and enacted by an Act of our own Parliament says the project can only cost US600million. Who do we believe the contractor, the government or the experts who in this case is EIZ?. Where is the other US600 million going?. Very soon it will it will be National Day of Prayers but look at the site. Nothing is happening there. It is just dust but go just opposite Charles Lwanga Catholic Church near the site who is building there. Meanwhile, when some people boycot such prayers because they are arranged by thieves, you label them anti Christ. Who is an Anti Christ here between the one stealing from the poor and calls for prayers and prays with one eye open looking for what to steal and the one who says no you are thieves stop using the name of the Lord in vain?. Look at the Victory Club Casino next to Autoworld along Kafue road near Down Town. How can Lungu build it in four months? Where is the money from? How can Lungu have more than K50million now from K2.5million in 2015? Meanwhile these people are calling for job creation and local contractors empowerment but look at who they are engaging as contractors. Chinese. The list is endless but what we want to state here is that it can be frustrating to be providing overaight role in Zambia but we hope one day we shall have a leader like Levy Mwanawasa who will sweep this country clean. Otherwise we shall not despair because of majority Zambians who do not care. For those who believe ” If you can’t beat them then join them” we say sorry because one day your children, grand children or great grand children shall pay for your docility.

When i discussed our scenario with different people the indictment was the same: Zambians are fools. Lungu knows this and has taken full advantage. Even the so-called talks are waste of time. 2021 is already rigged. Unless……

From the look of things, those charged with the responsibility of taking care of the public resources have failed because they have taken the personal preference at the expense of this great Nation. The question now is How do we hold them accountable when they do all these no senses in secrecy and the information come to the public domain at the point at which you can not intercept the evils. I believe it is indeed wrong to betray peoples trust by enriching yourself at the expense of those who voted you in the officer. The people of Zambia have this once lived the life of propaganda in which the elected law makers think they are Bosses. It is a high time people realize that they are not our Bosses but our servants. The word Minister From the actual Greek translation means servant not Master. Those who are perverting judgment and do all the wrong things publicly should realize that in the paste God would send his retributive Judgement which brought about total destruction including enslavement by other Nations. It is unfortunately that the people who miss guide the Politician now day hold the Bible and claim to be men of God. All those who are doing these evils in the name of God are cursed and their end will be terrible. They should just confirm that they are representing Satan who is their true Father Because God can not be deceived. actaully they shall perish for ever and they shall perish like their on dung and all those who know them will ask ” where are they but they shall not find them for they shall fly away as a drea”

You see, this is the docility and stupidity being expressed in the article. Since you dont care, you will always remain wet and uncomfortable without realising it. Stupif, where does the article mention HH and why are you so scared of HH? Believe it or not time is soon catching up with all of you and you will be made to account. We shall institute a very serious foregnsic audit once we are done with the elections.

I just took your nice picture at the top, substituted “Lungu” for “HH” and you complain about mentioning HH? It’s ok for you people to mention Lungu but nobody should mention HH? Very shallow!

Where does HH feature in all this? I think we should just admit we are docile and cowards, finish and clear.

The Watchdog should whether they like it or not realise that ECL won the elections. So if it writes its articles starting with “Dictator Edgar Lungu”or other delogetory remarks against him or his ministers his supporters take offence of it.as aresult they don’t even read your articles. Even some of us who are none partisan take some of your articles to be sour grapes. Please try as much as possible to be neutral and people will take you more seriously. The same goes for Post and the Mast.

I hereby challenge our MPS to seriously look into matters raised by comrade savior chishimba and CK. I remember the south African parliament did the same to Jacob Zuma. Shame.. shame.

The biggest problem that we have is our members of Parliament who are so afraid of their own shadow. We have MPS in Zambian parliament including the speaker who have no heart for mother zambia. I challenge the honourable MPS both in PF and Opposition to table this issue without fail.

This is a good summation of what Zambia is and the difference between Europe and Africa. This is the main reason why Zambia in particular and Africa in general is under developed. The duty of citizens is NOT to sing praises. The people that we put in office have a responsibility to account for their actions, decisions and everything that is entrusted to them by the Zambian people. It’s the duty of every citizen to ensure that those duty bearers(eg President and His Ministers) are kept on their toes, account for their performance and all public resources.Unfortunately in Zambia its business as usual.Any one who attempts to suggest positive solutions will be lebelled an opposition sympathiser. Our parliament is in a weak position to provide an efficient and effective oversight function. The Anti Corruption Commission is compromised and a has a selective approach. In short it’s like a dog which has teeth but can’t bite.Zambians must monitor various actions of government to ensure that they are in tandem with the aspirations of the Zambian people. Are we docile? Yes we are docile and passive. Believe me you if today was 1964 we were not going to achieve our independence. Zambia is longer the same:It’s a SHIPIKISHA CLUB.Let’s think of our children, grand children and great grand children,as things stand now, their future is at risk and uncertain.
